- Type: Lock puzzle
- Location: Underground chamber
- Difficulty: Easy
Background:
The party has stumbled upon a mysterious underground chamber while exploring an ancient, abandoned ruin. The chamber is filled with treasure, but there is only one way out – a locked door with four keyholes, each shaped like a different symbol: a triangle, a circle, a square, and a pentagon.
The party searches the chamber and finds four keys, each with a symbol matching one of the keyholes: a triangle key, a circle key, a square key, and a pentagon key. However, the keys are all cursed and will transport the party back to the start of the chamber if they use the wrong key in a keyhole.
The lock reads: “Low to high, three times you may try.”
The Puzzle:
To escape the chamber and claim the treasure, the party must figure out the correct sequence of keys to use in the keyholes. They only have three chances to get the correct sequence before the cursed keys teleport them out of the treasure chamber, sealing it forever.
The party can try the keys in any order, but they must use all four keys to unlock the door.
Solution:
To solve the puzzle and escape the chamber, the party must use the keys in the following order: circle key, triangle key, square key, pentagon key.
The symbols on the keys are clues to the correct order. The circle key represents the number 0, the triangle key represents the number 3, the square key represents the number 4, and the pentagon key represents the number 8.
By using the keys in this order, the party will be able to unlock the door and escape the chamber with the treasure.
