- Type: Elemental puzzle
- Location: A frozen temple
- Difficulty: Medium
Background:
You are a group of adventurers who have been hired to retrieve a divine icicle from a frozen temple deep in the Arctic. To get to the icicle, you must navigate a series of puzzles and traps designed to keep intruders out.
The Puzzle:
As you make your way through the frozen temple, you come across a room with a locked door and a series of ice sculptures. There is also a bath that is bigger than any of the sculptures.
An ice mephit sits in front of a frozen door and says: “To unlock this door, you must use the ice sculptures to solve this puzzle. The clues can be found in the mass of the sculptures. You must find out which combination of sculptures has a mass equal to my body.”
Solution:
To solve this puzzle, you must dunk the ice mephit in the bath to see how much the water rises and mark it down. Obviously the mephit won’t like it and complain, but it will comply without fighting.
Once you know how much the water rises by dunking the ice mephit you can try different combinations of sculptures to get a matching height. This solves the ice puzzle.
