D&D Fire Puzzle: Smoke and Flame

  • Type: Elemental puzzle
  • Location: An island
  • Difficulty: Difficult

Background:

You are a group of adventurers who have been hired to retrieve a holy fire lantern from a remote island. To get to the lantern, you must navigate a series of puzzles and traps designed to keep intruders out.

The Puzzle:

As you make your way through the island, you come across a room filled with a variety of different fuels. There is a locked door on the other side of the room, and a riddle inscribed on the door: “To pass through this door, you must use the fuels to light the fuels in the correct order.”

There’s also a depiction of islanders lighting fires with blue, red, green, yellow, and brown smoke. And there’s a chimney shoot in the room to catch smoke.

Solution:

To solve this puzzle, players light exotic things found around the island to see what color smoke they produce. Then, they have to feed the objects in the correct order to the flames so the chute will catch the smoke in the correct order.

Once you have done this, the door will unlock and you will be able to continue your journey.
